Welcome to Sound Optometry, a podcast from Docet hosted by Michelle Hanratty, an IP optometrist with over 20 years’ experience in both high street and hospital settings. Each month, through case studies and in-depth conversations, we explore the topics that matter most to you as an optometrist and are relevant to everyday practice.

Episode 4 - Binocular Vision

In this episode, we hear about a scenario in which a sixth nerve palsy was detected in an urgent remote consultation during the national COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. Michelle Hanratty then explores the methods that optometrists have at their disposal to detect and manage binocular vision problems with Janice McCrudden, a hospital optometrist from the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. This episode will equip the optometrist in community practice with the essential knowledge to meet the challenge of examining young children and detecting those at risk of developing a binocular vision anomaly.
