Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common form of macular degeneration in the UK, affecting more than 600,000 people. 

This five-part series on AMD covers the condition from physiology, pathology and classification through to assessment, management, referral and treatment. 

Part two focuses on the structure of the macular region and the pathophysiology involved in the development of AMD. It addresses the identification of clinical signs across the disease spectrum through fundus examination and OCT imaging. The course concludes with a concise overview of other macular disorders to support accurate differential diagnosis. 

Part two covers the following:

  • Physiology in the macula region
  • How drusen form
  • Looking at AMD with OCT
  • Early AMD
  • Late AMD
  • Other macula conditions.

At the end of the course you can complete the CPD quiz to gain one non-interactive CPD point.
