Following on from Contact Lenses: Fitting Astigmatic Patients – Soft Lenses,  the second part of the course covers the fitting, aftercare and management of RGP contact lens patients.

Before you start the second part of the course, please ensure that you have either completed Contact Lenses: Fitting Astigmatic Patients – Soft Lenses or you are familiar with the skills required to fit astigmatic patients with soft toric lenses.

Part  two covers the following:

  • Patient lifestyle and history relevant to contact lens wear
  • Appropriate RGP lens choice for astigmatic patients
  • Fitting RGP spherical and toric lenses, including lens designs and assessment of fit
  • Toric fitting tips and problem solving
  • The management of common aftercare issues with RGP lenses
  • Grading scales.

You will meet our patient Jon, and a group of optometrists who discuss his case and what they would consider when fitting patients with RGP lenses. There are a series of videos demonstrating the fitting and ‘on eye’ images that practitioners would see on the slit lamp. Jon then returns for an aftercare appointment. After the peer discussion, an expert presenter covers the signs and symptoms, causes and management of a range of common RGP contact lens complications.
