Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness and affects 60 million people worldwide. This eight-part series will deal with all relevant key areas, including:
- Glaucoma definitions and classification
- Pathophysiology and risk factors
- Assessment of anterior segment and anterior chamber angle
- Assessment of the intraocular pressure
- Assessment of the optic disc
- Visual fields
- Management, referrals and care pathways
- Treatment.
Before you start the second part of the course please ensure that you have either completed Glaucoma: Part One – Definitions and Classification or you are familiar with its content.
The second part covers glaucoma pathophysiology and risk factors.
Unit 3 - Pathophysiology
Unit 3 reviews the anatomy of the normal eye and the pathophysiology in the development of glaucoma. It discusses the current thinking on the causes and progression of glaucoma.
Unit 4 - Risk factors
Unit 4 covers the risk factors of the different types of glaucoma, including those obtained from taking history and symptoms as well as those identified during the ocular examination.
At the end of the course you can complete the CPD quiz to gain one non-interactive CPD point.
