Before you start the third part of the course, please ensure that you have either completed Glaucoma: Part 1 – Definitions and Classification and Glaucoma: Part 2 – Pathophysiology and Risk Factors or you are familiar with their content.
The third part covers glaucoma assessment (Anterior Segment and Anterior Chamber Angle).
Unit 5 – Assessment of the anterior segment and anterior chamber angle
Unit 5 looks at how to assess the anterior segment and anterior chamber angle to identify important signs of glaucoma, including some of the key risk factors. It explains what to look for on the slit lamp to identify ocular pathology relevant to glaucoma. The measurement, grading and assessment of the anterior chamber angle is covered, including the Van Herick technique, Smith's method, gonioscopy and using OCT.
NICE NG81 and SIGN 144 guidance is discussed and their relevance to referral and management of glaucoma suspects.
